With so many Oscar nominees in 2012 over 50, could the age of invisibility be over?

Article by Fabafterfifty

Who said the over 50s are invisible? With so much talk of ageism in the entertainment industry, it is encouraging to see the over 50s leading the way in Oscar nominations.

Performances requiring maturity are winning accolades from industry peers.

The over 50s nominees include Meryl Streep and Glenn Close for Best Actress, Gary Oldman and George Clooney for Best Actor, Janet Mcteer for Best supporting actress, Kenneth Branagh, Christopher Plummer and Nick Nolte, Best Supporting Actor  and Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese for the coveted Best Director Oscar.

Anyone thinking that the best years of their career are behind them once they reach their 50s should take inspiration and see that best could be yet to come.

If Hollywood can grow up and appreciate the Boomer generation, perhaps the rest of the working world will soon follow.
