How did women approach diet and exercise in the 1940′s , 50′s and 60′s?

Article by Ceri Wheeldon.
With all the media coverage highlighting body image and the latest diet and fitness craze, I came across some wonderful Pathe videos showing the techniques our mothers and grandmothers might have used to stay looking slim. I just had to share them.

Some are amusing, some more than a little strange, and the Eat Fat and Get Slim regime from the 1950s shows Atkins diet was not the first to suggest ditching carbs in favour of a high fat diet!

The 1940′s and 1960′s get slim techniques look like fun, but the 1950′s seemed to require a little more work and discipline!

Enjoy!
