When it comes to looking good in clothes, it is not about being slim, but it is about looking in proportion.
If, like me, you are narrow on the shoulders and broad (er) on the hips, then perhaps shoulder pads could be the answer. I’m not talking about creating Dynasty style 80s shoulders, but using shoulder pads which are just big enough to balance out your upper body, add some definition to your shoulders and give the illusion of a smaller waist.
It’s amazing how, if you are narrow or slightly round shouldered, adding the right shoulder pads can instantly make your clothes hang better.
I removed a pair of shoulder pads which were velcro’ed into a favourite dress, which were just the right proportion for me. I wear them almost daily when wearing anything with sleeves.
Check out good haberdashery departments – if you cant find shoulder pads with velcro, then sew a loop with pop fasteners on to plain ones to hook over your bra strap.
I recently came across a website offering a whole variety of shoulder pads (pictured above) Magic Body Fashion who may well be worth trying too, although I have not yet purchased from them myself.
Adding shoulder pads is an expensive (or even free) way of looking fabulous over 50 with minimum effort!
