Is there a good product to help fade dark skin pigmentation? Fade Out review.

Article by Ceri Wheeldon

This is a question we get asked a lot. How easy is it to address darker pigmentation marks which frequently appear as we age?

We have discussed the option of laser treatment in a previous article, but this can be costly and is not necessarily the route everyone wants to take. There are many relatively expensive creams on the market which claim to help, but I was keen to find a product which did the job but was also cost effective.

One of our readers contacted me to say that she had been trying a new day cream, which she was convinced had made a difference in just 10 days.

Pat has noticed dark pigmention patches appearing on her face – particularly on the area around her upper lip (which she was particularly self conscious about), which she believes is probably hormonal, as she experienced the same problem during both her pregnancies. After 10 days Pat felt the darker area had already faded, and she did not feel the need to wear her usual ‘thick’ concealer.

The cream she discovered and was excited about is called Fade Out. I have checked, and it is very reasonably priced at only just over £8 a pot and is available from Boots.

I have checked with the company and they say that Fade Out is developed AGEING SKIN Sun spots, age spots and ageing skin PREGNANCY / MEDICATION SIDE EFFECTS Pigmentation areas caused by pregnancy & medication SKIN BRIGHTENING Skin renewal, even skin tone SUN DAMAGED SKIN With freckles or uneven skin tone.

Excessive production of melanin in the skin can result in areas of uneven pigmentation, age spots and overall darker skin tone. Over time this causes the skin to lose its brightness and appear dull and uneven resulting in the skin to look aged. The transfer of melanin into the upper layers of the skin is accelerated when exposed to the sun or certain hormones. Fade Out products inhibit melanin transfer into the upper layers of the skin

I am lucky enough not to have darker pigmentation spots on my face, but I Fade Out also has a cream for reducing  dark under eye circles. I am going to try this one- and will of course report back!

Fade Out Cream is available from Boots.
