Why are facial exercises effective? As we age the facial muscles atrophy, affecting the support structure of the face and bone loss. This in turn drags the skin down, the cheeks drop and we develop pouches, jowls and saggy skin. Our cheeks dip and the face flattens. We can lose roundness in the face, which makes us look tired, less youthful and look as though we have less vitality. Just as when we exercise muscles in the body, exercising the muscles in the face helps them increase in size, they plump and tone, lifting the cheeks.
