Interview with Tina Richards Beauty guru and anti-ageing expert Tina Richards offers her thoughts on the various types of facial  exercises and how and why they work as a part of  an effective anti-ageing routine. Why are facial exercises effective? As we age the facial muscles atrophy, affecting the support structure of the face and bone loss. This in turn drags the skin down, the cheeks drop and we develop pouches, jowls and saggy skin. Our cheeks dip and the face flattens.  We can lose roundness in the face, which makes us look tired, less youthful and look as though we have less vitality. Just as when we exercise muscles in the body, exercising the muscles in the face helps them increase in size, they plump and tone, lifting the cheeks. There are 15 different areas of the face we can exercise. Do we need to exercise all 15 areas of...
  7. Product review : Biometa Essential Serum. Could this be the best anti-ageing product?

    Comment
    SkinMedica Biometa Essentia Serum image
Article by Ceri Wheeldon I had no expectations when starting to use this product. I have to confess to not even reading any of the blurb or press coverage beforehand. I am a bit of a product junkie (as one look in my bathroom will confirm) so am always keen to try anything new. The first differentiator is that the product is in fact 2 separate ones which you pump onto your hand and mix together before applying to your face. This is what almost instantly highlighted the difference to me. Although my skin felt incredibly smooth-almost glasslike, and I’m fairly convinced my pigmentation is more even, I always find it hard to be objective when looking in the mirror to determine if any product has made an actual difference. Skin significantly smoother But the back of my hands told a very specific story. Within just a few days the...

  10. Product Review: Thalgo Silicium anti-ageing skincare

    Comment
    THALGO_Silicium product review image
Review by Fabafterfifty I’m a big fan of marine based products, so was keen to try their new Silicium range. The Slicium range in particular is targeted at skin showing loss of firmness and wrinkles. Having had Thalgo facials in France I was looking forward to seeing what effect the products for home use would have on my skin. I tried 2 products in the range – the Silicium Cream and the Silicium concentrate. The Silicium Concentrate is an intensive serum designed to be used as a one month course (to be repeated a couple of times a year) while the Silcium Cream is for daily use, morning and evening. The Silicium Cream is rich and velvety, but not too heavy and is easily absorbed . I liked the fact that it can be used morning and night, so reducing the need for separate day and night creams. After a few...
