I admit it. I am a product junkie. Open up my bathroom cabinet, or look at my dressing table and you will see pots and jars in all shapes and sizes containing lotions and potions promising anything from fewer wrinkles to slimmer thighs (I wish!). I love to buy in the pharmacies and beauty shops in France, where you leave not just with your actual purchase, but with a raft of samples of never before tried creams and perfumes.
I also scan the beauty press for the newest and best facials – and where possible try them out.
I have to be honest and say that despite my best efforts, most of the creams I have tried have made little or no difference, but occasionally I do come across one which seems to do just what it claims to do.
When one person complimented me on my skin last week I was pleasantly surprised, when the second person commented I was pleased, but when a third person who I had just met for the first time asked what I had had ‘done’, I started to think- have I ‘done’ anything? It also made me realise that perhaps I should start a beauty ‘blog’ focussing on anti-ageing treatments for us over 50 women.
To the question I was asked “had I had any ‘work done’?”. The answer is no, but I did start to use a new serum 2 weeks ago, which I could feel within a few days making a dramatic difference to my skin. It was suggested to me by a dermatologist I met at a press day for a totally unrelated treatment.
It’s called TNS Recovery Complex, by SkinMedica, and it says it should be used morning and night for 90 days to have a significant effect on your skin. It claims to increase elasticity and collagen, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture.
After only 2 weeks it is difficult to comment on the wrinkle reduction, but I have already noticed a difference in the texture of my skin. I have also noticed a dramatic reduction in a pigmentation mark on my cheek – in fact it has almost disappeared.
The product is said to contain ‘a topical growth factor mix that combines soluble collagen, matrix proteins, antioxidants and other elements essential to diminish the visible signs of aging.’
Skinmedica say , from clinical studies, that when TNS is applied, the active growth factors rejuvenate the body’s own supply.
Whether this is the case or not, I can only comment on the fact that it is working for me. Apparently I’m not alone in my praise as SkinMedica names Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey and Bo Derek as devotees of the TNS recovery complex.
Even my husband (who is normally oblivious to my ongoing quest for the perfect cream) has said that he can notice the difference in the quality of my skin. Praise indeed!
According to the press office (who I contacted), its recommended price is £89, although you use very little per application. Stockists can be found through SkinBrands on 0208 9978541. I am definitely a convert!

Hello. I am an Asian woman aged 41 years and I have very sensitive uneven skin, with breakouts. Would TNS recovery cream be suitable for me? Thank you.
