Tips from Bobbi Brown
As we age the shape of our face changes , what is commonly known as the Lost Triangle of Youth. We lose volume in the upper and mid part of our face, and where we lose elasticity and tone, fat pads tend to drift downwards towards our jawline, creating jowls. The triangle reverses. Our skin becomes drier and less plump. Our eyes and lips lose definition.
But all is not lost! There are things we can do with make up to create the illusion of a more youthful face.
Make-up artist Bobbi Brown offers her tips.

Beauty is really something that comes from within – it’s about having self-confidence. At any age, it’s important for women to be who they are. It’s about having self-confidence and playing up the qualities that make you unique.
There’s something incredibly beautiful about a woman with lines in her face and I think we should start using the phrase ‘living’ instead of ‘aging’. Lines are proof that we’ve lived life. We get them when we show emotion, when we laugh, and when we express ourselves. When it comes down to it, beauty is confidence.
First, make sure your skin is well hydrated. Moisturize your face. This is the most important step in caring for skin. When skin isn’t well moisturized, it looks dull, tired, and older than it really is. Moisturizer helps plump up the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Bobbi Brown EXTRA Moisturizing Balm is a great option for rehydrating and restoring severely dehydrated skin. Stick to cream formulas for your foundation, which will help further hydrate and plump up the skin – plus, it’s less likely to cake into lines and wrinkles, which can call more attention to them.
Before applying any eye makeup, press face powder on your lids to help create a smooth surface. Don’t apply foundation to lids – this will cause eye shadow to cake, exaggerating any crepeyness. Steer clear of shimmery eye shadow formulas, as they reflect light and draw attention to less-than-smooth lids. Opt for Cream shadow – they’re a great option as long as the formula isn’t too greasy and not too drying. Your best bet is to pick soft matte shadows in light to medium tones of nude, brown, grey and lavender
Apply the eyeliner just on the upper lashline or on both top and bottom lashlines—whatever you feel most comfortable in. But, don’t apply liner just on the bottom lashline. This will only draw your eyes downward and make you look tired.
It’s important to re-evaluate the colour of your blush every few years: Skin tone changes during and after menopause. You’ll need to add colour to your face as you get older, but make sure it doesn’t look like a stripe of colour.
For lips definition is key at this stage, so use lip pencil to keep lipstick from feathering.

I just love reading beauty tips! My passion is to help women find ways to bring out their true beauty no matter what their age. The premium products I use with my “maturing” skin hydrate and firm so wonderfully that people are shocked to hear I’ll be 62 at my next birthday…just love that! However, like Ariane, I want to share wise ways to cosmetically enhance my face while also not doing things that will age me even more (too dark lip colors for example). So, thank you again for sharing this valuable information. I’m excited that Arbonne’s Cosmetics can accomplish these tips while enriching my skin. We call it “Beauty with Benefits”!
