Jane Fonda took centre stage at the Cannes Film Festival this year- outshining many of the younger ‘stars’ with her elegance and great figure!  At 73 Jane still looks amazing “I feel I’m at the right stage of life to get back into the Fitness business and pass on all that I’ve learned about being fit over 50.”
As a keen advocate of keeping fit in your fifties, Jane Fonda wants to share her experience of how staying active is the key to ageing successfully by offering fun, safe and effective workouts that strengthen and tone muscles, improve brain and body functions and support overall health and well being.

WALK OUT features two low-impact routines based on walking and stretching. Walking burns a lot of calories and slims the waistline, whilst improving brain function and blood flow, and increasing both your heart and lung health.     My tip for keeping fit at the moment – [post 55] … Is zumba. Loving the music, the buzz and the energy. With good trainers and comfortable clothes it’s a means to enjoyment and fitness for all, no matter what your age or fitness level.
    Coming home from a class with a smile on my face is enough to keep me fit for hours and hours.

    My tip for keeping fit over 50 is an early morning swim before my days work. Guaranteed to keep you full of energy until the end of the day. I also sneak back to the gym for a little ZUMBA fitness. 🙂

    My tip is to get a dog and get up early to give your dog a 30 minute walk before work; it definitely blows the cobwebs away and keeps you supple.

    My tip is to combine different types of exercise into your daily routine. I have dogs so I walk with them every day, in addition I will sometimes do stretch and short areobic work outs, or exercise using small hand weights to tone and strenghthen my body, this helps you to lose inches and improves posture and body tone. Sometimes I put on my dance/areobic shoes and do dance moves to music. I recommend a walk every day and one of the forementioned twice aweek or more. Do what you feel like doing as enjoying moving your body will energise mind, body and soul and will give you great shape and confidence.

    I do a 15 minute workout before work every morning – Cindy Crawford’s dvd A New Dimension the 2nd workout however I modify the exercises to increase the intensity (eg with the squats I hold weights and do a shoulder press at the same time, I do full push-ups and I vary the abs exercises – I know so many! I also try to fit a walk in during my 30 minute lunchbreak. This way even if I’m not scheduled to do a workout later (I try to do an hour 3-4 times a week)I know I’ve achieved something and given my metabolism a boost.

    I work out with a trainer once a week and garden all through the summer. I am about to sign up for Yoga.

    Walking has always been my favorite form of fitness as I can burn calories but relax my mind at the same time. Sometimes I listen to my IPod and sometimes the birds.

    Jane Fonda’s original workouts keep me slim and trim in the 90s and beyond. She’s great.
