I told a friend about tying Frownies- and my experience. She said I just to share. The things I try out to be wrinkle free!
How did Hollywood actresses appear wrinkle free in the days before Botox?
Apparently many actresses applied triangles of sticky brown paper on their foreheads to combat frown lines and at the sides of their eyes for crows’ feet to retrain muscles and eliminate wrinkles. A strange concept, but does it work? Apparently so!
Filling in the wrinkles
I set off to find out. In theory, you wear overnight for 30 consecutive nights, holding the skin taught and applying the small flesh coloured triangles of paper on key points over the wrinkled area. It seems that the Frownies act as a sort of splint, hold muscles in place and allow the skin to ‘smooth’ itself as a result, essentially filling in the wrinkles.
This is incredibly easy to do, but not easy to do without being noticed by my husband! As I stood in front of the bathroom mirror, it was very easy to apply the frownies accurately at the specific points suggested. I did look a little strange- definitely a passion killer! I thought walking into the bedroom with triangles of brown paper stuck over my face was not the best idea for keeping romance alive. Plan B: Waiting for hubby to fall asleep and applying the Frownies in the dark – not quite so easy to do. Neither was making sure I was awake before he was in order to remove the stickers before he woke up!
Softening the lines
After a week I could see a softening of the lines, but found applying and sleeping in Frownies in secret a little difficult.
Plan C. Wearing Frownies in the day. Apparently wearing 4-5 hours in the day does the job almost as well. Great idea for working at home days. Not so great an idea for answering the door to a rather startled postman – he was polite enough not to say anything and it wasn’t until later that I realised that I was still wearing them- hence his strange reaction.
Do Frownies work? Yes, I think they do. And if I was single I wouldn’t hesitate to carry on using them. But perhaps best for those who live and sleep alone!
