The New Year’s resolutions I will NOT be making this year!

Article by Fabafterfifty

It’s that time of year when you look to start January full of good intentions. Most years my list of New Year’s resolutions  looks pretty much the same. After an initial bout of enthusiasm my resolutions fall by the wayside. My year ends looking not very different to the way it started.

This year I have decided not to make any New Year Resolutions.

So, this year I am NOT going to say that I will lose weight, but what I will say is that I shall eat more sensibly and plan my meals better so that I am less likely to succumb to last minute temptations.

I will NOT say that I will join a gym and get more exercise, but I WILL find two activities I look forward to and will stick to. I hate the gym and dread going, so why even pretend that joining is a good thing for me to do. ( in fact I have signed up to do weekly ‘ballroom breakout’ dance fitness classes with Ian Waite– great fun and sociable so actually look forward to going).

I will NOT say ‘be tidier’ ( I’m a bit of a hoarder and as a result it is often difficult to retrieve things from my overcrowded cupboards), but I will plan a weekend to have a major wardrobe sort-out.

I will NOT say ‘be more relaxed about entertaining’ but I WILL plan and practice 3 easy menus that I can repeat with different friends over the course of the year AND will look at what ‘cheat’ options are out there and not feel the pressure to turn into a domestic goddess on weekends!

So, no New Year’s Resolutions for me – but hopefully I will end 2013 slimmer, fitter and more relaxed.

Happy New Year!

I’m with you – what’s the point of setting yourself up to fail. Life is too short for that sort of guilt. Make the most of every day – that doesn’t need a New Year’ Resolution to make it happen!
