Review by Ceri Wheeldon
I love my nails to look good, but have resisted gel nail manicures on the basis that I really didn’t want to get hooked in to having regular salon manicures, from a time and a cost perspective. I appreciated the fact that gel nail manicures could last up to 2 weeks, but still preferred to continue with my traditional nail varnish knowing that I could always top up at home at a moment’s notice. Although I am always quite envious of those who do have great nails!
I was pleased to find a home based kit SensatioNail which was surprisingly easy to use , and the results of my first gel manicure lasted almost 2 weeks. It would probably have lasted a little longer if it wasn’t for the fact that I am currently living in a building site, with my hands and nails taking a bit of a battering as a consequence.
In less than 20 minutes, in the comfort of my living room, while catching up on my skyplus viewing, with no parking hassles trying to get to a salon, I was able to create great nails. The SensatioNail starter kit comes with an LED lamp (which looks very similar to a nail dryer I used years ago) , colour gel polish, primer and top coat.
Professional style gel nails at home
The process is very much like giving yourself a good home manicure – but you ‘cure’ your nails under the led light between coats. The starter kit is not cheap (£69.99) in Boots , but this works out at about £6 per gel manicure for the first 10, with subsequent manicures working out at far less as you only need to buy the nail gel, primer and topcoat. I worked out that this should bring the cost of each gel manicure down to approximately £2.50 I chose a raspberry colour for my starter set, but there are lots of other colours to choose from, with the gel polishes available individually ranging between £10 and £15.
I love it, think it would make a great gift, and am hoping to find some extra colours in my Christmas Stocking .
The SensatioNail kit is currently available from Asda and Boots.com

Does it affect the condition of your nails? I like the idea…but I had some false nails for a while, they wrecked my nails afterwards it took a good year to get back to ‘normal’. I
