Christyne, changing perceptions of women and age- theatre debut in her late 60s

changing perceptions of women over 50An update from Chrstyne Remnant

Christyne is leading the pack when it comes to changing perceptions of women over 50.  Christyne previously shared with us her experience of going to Oxford University as a mature student and finding herself as a cover girl in her 60s. Her latest update really does go to show that age is just a number!

I think I must have been among the very first few “fab” women profiled on your page back in January 2011. “not that I consider myself  fab”

Am now in my 69th year…. and you last heard from me in July 2012 after I had won a local model search competition, after this I appeared in fashion shoots in local newspapers in Oct and Dec 2012

My theatre debut in my 60s.

theatre debut in 60s imageHad an opportunity in Oct to audition and I then won a role to be in the professional touring West End hit Comedy “The Lady Killers” when it was being staged for one week on its run at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton.

I played one of Michele Doltrice’s lady friends. I cannot tell you what a thrill this was to appear in a professional production at this famous theatre that holds around 2,500 people. I have been in the audience many times over the years but never, ever thought for one moment that I could ever be on that stage, especially as I had never even been involved in amateur dramatics.

But when this audition came my way I just thought it would be fun to have a go, am so glad that I did as it was such a great experience to appear with this professional cast and tread the same board that so many very famous people had done before me.

I also entered the Mrs Commonwealth UK Inner Beauty Pageant in Nov and was very pleased to come 3rd especially as all the girls were no older than 35.

So that was 2012 which was, another fun year, filming for the first time, going on the stage and getting interviewed by newspaper and magazine, even got to sign my very first autograph.

The Best is Yet to Come

Fingers crossed for 2013 when hopefully I will hear of more opportunities. So far I was a runner up in the “Beauty Without Cruelty” competition and about to take part in a Jack the Ripper student film playing the part of Annie Chapman (second ripper victim) and later will appear in a spoof James Bond type film playing the role of M which will go into a local film festival. I maybe will now go in the acting direction and see where it takes me. Will keep you posted.

My philosophy is “the best is yet to come”…………….
