A Moment Of Calm – Poem – In Honour Of Our Girlfriends

female friendship poem imageArticle by Ntathu Allen

Blessed selves, and welcome to another Monday; another chance to pause, reconnect and find the magic within. Your weekly Moment of Calm is here for you, to take a few minutes out of your busy day to appreciate your beauty.

Today’s Moment of Calm is an inspirational poem, Sistah-Friend, for you to share with your girlfriends.

I know from my personal experience that my girlfriends, or sistah-friends as I call my extra close women? Or woman??Friends, have stood the test of time. In today’s Moment of Calm, I invite you to take a moment to pause, reflect on all the fun and in some cases not so fun times you have shared with your female friends and relations. As I write, I am instantly transported back in time, to when my dear brother John unexpectedly died, in 1997.  As you can imagine, my parent’s world, and mine-was turned upside down. Mum’s sisters’ and my other elder aunts and my girlfriends all rallied round and I recall the strength I found in being with that female protective energy.  I was 35 at the time of John’s passing and that feminine power got me through many a dark time as I journaled and breathed my way through my grief

I am sure you have similar memories with your girl-friends. So, today’s Moment of Calm, I encourage you to take a moment to breathe and as you read these words, honour yourself as a woman and as a friend.

Sistah-Friend

Dedicated To Our Girlfriends

… in you I’ve found a sistah

A friend so pure and true

A fellow-traveller,

soul companion,

life-long guide too

in you I see all that I Am

in you I see our destiny

…so come with me, my sistah-friend…

Let us travel side by side

~ let us share our sorrows, joys and cares

cast our energies to the air

~ let us mingle with the wind

and embrace our Mother the Earth

~for we are One, my dear Sistah-Friend

and together we shall breathe

in perfect love and unity.
