Warm hearted greetings dear friends and thanks for taking the time to pause and be part of our vibrant circle of fabulous women over fifty. Today’s Moment of Calm post, is a short prayer, Shine Your Light,  to help you gather your thoughts and set a positive and peaceful intention for your day ahead.

Start Your Day With A Prayer

Taking time when you wake up, to sit quietly with yourself, do a few rounds of yoga breathing exercises, gentle yoga stretches or say a short prayer  is the perfect way to feel calm and invite more Moments of Calm into your day. Even if you do not have any strong religious affiliations, for me, prayer is taking time to reconnect with yourself and communicate with the quietness inside your soul.

To encourage you to have a calm and peaceful start to your day, here is a prayer I wrote just for you to say quietly to yourself when you wake up.

A Prayer For You – Shine Your Light

Dear Divine Mother and Heavenly Father, who resides in each and every one of us

Help me to see life through your eyes, to understand where my so-called enemies are coming from and to overstand the pain, hurt and confusion they too, must be going through.

Help me to be brave, to forgive and move on

To let go of the past and reach for the Higher Ground,

As I aim for happiness and peace of mind and let go of the need to be right

and have it all my way.

Help me to climb out of the pit, the pit of despair and glowing judgement

as I strive to be a more loving, open-hearted soul.

Help me to surrender and say yes to life, to learn how to trust and ask for what I want-rather then

let you second-guess and complain when you “get it wrong”

Help me to stand up, to take charge and co-create the life I desire, a life based on truth, justice and tranquillity for all.

Closing Reflections and Call To Action

Although short,  if said regularly, this little prayer will help you navigate the ups and downs of family life and be a more compassionate colleague and friend.

As a suggestion, we encourage you to print it out and for the next five mornings when you wake up and before you get out of bed, sit up, take a slow steady breath in and out through your nose and  quietly read Shine Your Light to yourself.

And if you are going through a particularly difficult patch with a friend, your partner or colleague, repeat the prayer again and this time, hold that person in your heart and imagine you are sharing Shine Your Light with them. It is a simple, yet powerful way to build a more loving relationship with yourself and others as you set your intention to have a positive, productive and peaceful day.

Let us know how you feel and what changes you become aware of when you say this daily prayer, you may feel a whole range of emotions and thoughts raising to the surface.
