With our changing faces over 50 and a host of new make-up products available on the market, we asked celebrity make-up artist Attracta Courtney to answer your make-up dilemmas
What are the best types of foundations and concealers to use for mature skin?
I would recommend a creamy CC foundation, excellent for colour correcting skin tones for all ages to give a beautiful luminous finish to skin, Ideally ensure that the product has an SPF which helps protect the skin from UVA & UVB sun rays regardless of the season. Big fan of Clinique and Chanel CC creams which are very moisturising also.
Which is the best blusher to use – cream or powder and where do I apply it?
I am a great fan of cream blushers as they are more easy to smooth onto skin the cream texture creates a beautiful flush of healthy colour on the cheeks. Ideally use your fingertips to apply the product onto the apple of the cheeks then gently tap the skin surface to create a diffusion of colour on top of the cheek bone and slightly pat – perfect recipe to add a pop of colour and freshness to skin. Bobbi Brown, Bourjois and Daniel Sandler are 3 of my favourite brands to work with for there rosey pink – coral shades which are flattering to all skin tones
Can I still wear eyeliner over 50?
Of course! Ideally choose a soft eyeliner pencil is grey/black or chocolate brown two tones which work well with all skin tones.
My eyelashes have got shorter and coarser – which is the best type of mascara to use?
I really recommend Bobbi Brown Everything mascara – great at coating and elongating lashes to leave a very natural finish for lashes – a perfect mascara for healthy looking lashes.
