Let’s Dress Up on Valentine’s Day!

Article by Judith Brady

Valentines red outfitsDo you have a special evening planned with the one you love on Valentine’s Day?

It doesn’t really matter whether you’re going to the opera or staying in for a cosy night at home, we can all (men included!) make that special effort to show that we care.

That could mean spending a little more time over your hair, putting on a coat of mascara and lip gloss, digging out your favourite top to wear with your best fitting jeans. Swap your usual slippers for some heels, a bit of perfume and you’re all set!

If you have something more dressy planned (or hopefully planned for you!) here are a few ideas of how to dress up to get into that romantic frame of mind.

Sophisticated monochrome

Dress: Phase Eight, Earrings: Accessorize, Bag: Precis, Shoes: Dune

It may not be red or pink, but this outfit is still romantic in a very sophisticated way. A dress like this makes all the statement you need so keep accessories fairly plain – perhaps with some sparkly earrings to draw attention up to your face.

Red lace and hearts

Red lace dress: Damsel in a Dress, Red heart earrings: Fiorelli, Red beaded clutch: Amazon

Red slingbacks: Phase Eight

For those who want to go the whole nine yards with red lace, hearts and flowers – you can get practically anything heart-shaped or with roses on it! I would tend to choose just one, but if you love it then why not?

Navy is the new black!

Evening trousers: John Lewis, Top: Phase Eight, Bag: Ebay, Shoes: Debenhams

If red, pink and lace dresses just aren’t you, then how about trying some evening trousers? With the right accessories you can still create a stunning outfit and depending on your lifestyle, dressy trousers may prove to be a star item in your wardrobe.

It all comes down to dressing to fit the occasion and most important of all, finding what’s right for you; what suits your personality, body shape  and what’s going to make you feel good.

Where ever you go and whatever you do, I hope you are thoroughly spoilt and have a fabulous time.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I would like to echo the above, there must be a larger market for us tall people.
A year ago I did go to a stylist and it was the best thing I have done for years. Shopping is no longer dreaded I can go in a shop and say I really like that but it would not suit me and thats OK. Previously it was charge into a shop for an outfit for wearing that evening. I would then proceed to buy what the mannequin was wearing because someone knew what they were doing when they put the outfit together so therefore it would be fine on me. Oh how wrong one can be!!
