Are you like me, created an account, had a quick look. got totally confused and made a hasty retreat to the comfort of Facebook and twitter?
Well, a few weeks ago I decided to take another look. Instead of just posting links to my latest FabafterFifty articles which seemed to disappear into a black hole, never to be seen again, I decided to try and actually connect with people.
Since I had initially created my account, Google Plus has now added Communities, where you can connect with people with similar interests.
I was incredibly lucky to connect with a lovely lady called Sandra Watson, who has taken me under her wing and really helped me to get started. Sandra likes to communicate via Google in what is very similar to a Skype call, in a Google Hangout. The great thing about hangouts is that it is really easy to screenshare, so Sandra was able to show me exactly how I should be doing things. Moving one step on from that,
As well as private Hangouts, Google+ enables you to have a ‘Hangout on Air’ which is essentially a live broadcast, where you can share your discussion with your GooglePlus audience, and the ‘hangout’ is also available later on YouTube.
Join Fab after Fifty on a Hangout to demystify Google Plus!
Sandra has kindly offered to join me in a live Google Hangout On Air to help us to better understand what we can expect from GooglePlus and how to get started. Judith Brady will be joining us, as Judith, like me, has a G+ account, but never really understood how to use it.
Hopefully over the course of the hangout, Sandra Watson will be able to demystify GooglePlus for us, and help us to understand that it is a network that truly is social.
Jump in and HangOut!
By the way, this is the first of the Midlife Hangouts – we are planning to cover a lot of different topics – mostly about life rather than technology!
I should mention that this is my first hosted HOA – so am hoping that I press the right keys and you won’t be left gazing at a blank screen!
The ‘Are Women over 50 on Google Plus’ Live Hangout on Air is scheduled for Friday March 7th 5pm GMT. Hope to see you there- for those on Google Plus here is the link to the event– or you can watch via YouTube here. You can even come back and check the page and see it live!
