Style over 50 should be fun, and shopping for clothes should be a pleasure – not a chore, which is precisely why I have chosen this tomato red Mary Portas Kite Dress for Day 2 of the 204 Dresses with Sleeves challenge. Dresses with sleeves don’t have to serious or formal!
The fact that the dress is longer at the back than the front seems to elongate the body, and the tapering effect helps to skim any extra inches around the middle to create a sleek silhouette. The mesh sleeves make it a bit quirky. I love the fact that it has a V neck – great to wear that fabulous statement necklace.
There is no way would be invisible over 50 wearing this dress!
I would wear with a pair of black heels – they don’t need to be high – kitten heels can be incredibly flattering.
I don’t know about you, but I have a tendency to constantly buy essentially the same style dress but in different colours. A dress that you may think is not ‘you’ could look terrific on. Take the dress you are naturally drawn to into the changing room to try – but why not take something a little different s you are already slipping in and out of clothes it only takes 2 minutes to try on one more. You might be pleasantly surprised!
Mary Portas Kite Dress is £79 and available from House of Fraser
