A touch of glamour with this cocktail dress from Phase Eight for Day 16 of the 2014 Dresses with Sleeves Challenge.
The ruching around the middle helps to disguise tums, while the contrast lace panels down the sides help create a the illusion of a slimmer silhouette. The sleeves are sheer which offer a lighter sophisticated look for special occasions – and make it a great dress for evening wear.
Burgundy is less harsh than black for many skin tones. The deep ‘V’ neck elongate the neck and the ‘eyelash’ detail around the neck softens the neckline while giving it a luxurious feel. The empire line boddice helps to elongate the body.
This dress is quite ‘busy’ yet somehow the tone on tone works to give the dress a sophisticated feel
The Marissa Dress is £120 at House of Fraser
