How Much Energy Do You Have At The End Of the Day?
If you are like most women I know, you are used to juggling and striving to accomplish more in your day than humanly possible and end up feeling exhausted and drained.
Are you tired of being tired and running on empty?
Like most superwomen it is easy to feel depleted and drained as you struggle to fit everything in. When your children were younger, you may have felt you had no choice but to keep on pushing and stuffing everything into an already overflowing drawer. However, by the time you reach your 50s, its time to take stock of your life and make more conscience decisions about how you wish to spend the rest of your life.
Do you want to still be on the treadmill in five years’ time?
Bearing in mind by the time you reach 50, you’ve more than likely lived for over half your life, what healthy habits do you think you have to make to have less stress and more energy and zest for life?
Do you want to keep living the same life, still feeling tired, stressed and over committed or do you want to have more time and space to do what nurtures and fills your heart and, live a life of abundant energy?
The menopause can leave you feeling breathless, exhausted and flustered yet at the same time, it is a wonderful opportunity to look at your life, re-evaluate your current habits and find ways to improve your health and have more energy to deal with the inevitable ups and downs of caring for elderly relatives, keeping an eye on younger members of your family and managing the changing landscape of employment.
Everything in Life Is Energy
Learning how to use your energy wisely is key to having a good life.
Have you noticed some people and situations leave you feeling depleted whereas other experiences energise and uplift your vibration and empowers and enriches you. Anytime you feel your energy slipping, here are 5 healthy habits you can do which will instantly boost your energy and lift your spirits. The more time you dedicate to weaving these moments of calm into your day, the more vibrant your life will become.
Healthy Habit #1 Yoga Breathing Exercises
Yoga breathing exercises help to calm and steady your thoughts and are ideal to do anytime you feel restless and sense unease and tiredness creeping into your body.
Try This: place one hand on your belly and take a deep breath in through your nose for a count of 1…2…3…4…5 and slowly let it out, again for a count of 1…2…3…4…5. Repeat 3-5 times and I guarantee you’ll feel refreshed and energised.
Healthy Habit #2 Self Massage Using Essential Aromatherapy Oils
A simple hand massage using a blend of lavender, ylang ylang oil in sweet almond base is a simple way to lift fatigue and ease tension, leaving you feeling recharged and uplifted.
Healthy Habit #3 Meditate
Meditation is very popular these days as more and more people find immediate relief and calm from this ancient practice. A simple meditation practice is to sit in a quiet place and softly repeat the words “I breathe in…I breathe out” for 2 minutes.
Healthy Habit #4 Eat foods which nurture nourish and sustain your energy
A quick and easy way to boost your energy is to ensure your diet is nutrient dense, rich in quality protein and to snack on low glycaemia foods, e.g. oatcakes, nuts/seeds mix with dried fruit. This helps to stabilise your blood sugar level which keeps you feeling full and satisfied and prevents energy highs and lows. Supplement your diet with good quality organic nutritional supplements, especially magnesium, vitamin C and B vitamins. Magnesium is known as the “calming mineral” and can be found in dark leafy greens, seeds and nuts.
Healthy Habit #5 Exercise
A simple yoga exercise, done sitting down at your desk always eases tension and revives you. Try this easy yoga stretch: Seated Trunk Twist
Sitting on your chair, make sure your feet are resting on the floor, toes pointing forwards. Lengthen your spine and lower your shoulders. Rest your hands on your shoulders and gently twist your body side to side. Twist gently 3 – 5 times in each direction. Make sure you twist from the base of your spine and keep your back straight throughout the stretch.
As you mature it is essential you find ways to maximise your energy and keep your energy supplies topped-up during the day. The more time you spend focusing on weaving yoga breathing exercises, give yourself a simple self massage, meditate, eat foods which nurture, nourish and sustain your energy and exercise/move your body on a daily basis, you’ll find you’ll have more energy and space to fit in all you do with a clear mind and healthy body.
