I may not have received an invite to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s wedding in South of France, but I have at least tried their wine! In fact a glass of chilled rose is probably the closest I will ever get to Brad Pitt.
You really can’t spend time in the South of France without savouring the rose wine. And how could I resist trying a bottle of Chateau Miraval – named the best Rose in the world this year- when spotting it at the Antibes Cave (wine shop).
I had previously tried the wine from vineyard, it was formerly marketed as Pink Floyd prior to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie taking it over (they bought the chateau and vineyard in 2011 have previously leased it for 3 years) .
Other than the name change, the first thing I noticed was that they had also changed the shape of the bottle, so it is now very similar to the Laurent Perrier champagne bottle – so there is an immediate sense of luxury before you have even tasted a sip.
Is the wine good? Well, I cannot pretend to be a wine connoisseur, but it is definitely one of my favourites . Of course if you have the opportunity to sip Miraval chilled, in the sun, with a view of the sea, on the French Riviera, how can you possibly not enjoy it!
As Rose wines go, it is not cheap at 14.30 euros a bottle, but it does seem far more of a treat than the 4 euro bottles from the supermarket.
I shall toast their marriage- with a glass of their very own Chateau Miraval wine.
