Product Review: Dr Murad Intensive Age Diffusing Serum and Dr Murad Age-Balancing Moisture

Review by Ceri Wheeldon

Dr Murad Age Diffusing Serum  Dr Murad Age Balancing Moisture

Can a resilient desert plant help transform ageing skin?

Well I tried the latest additions to the Dr Murad anti-ageing skincare range to find out. Both the Intensive Age-Diffusing Serum and the Age-balancing Moisture contain specialised proteins from the Resurrection Plant, found in the desert, which help reduce age-related dehydration, tightens and firms the skin, and helps lock in moisture.

I was certainly putting the hydration properties to the test – I have been using the Tria Age Defying Laser which in the early stages of use dries your skin significantly- and I was in desperate need of resolving what had become almost sandpaper like skintone.

Thankfully these new products delivered.

The Dr Murad Intensive Age Diffusing Serum was very soothing when applied. I was surprised by the consistency of the Dr Murad Age-Balancing Moisture. It was much ‘denser’ than I had expected and initially sat on top of the surface of the skin rather than sinking straight in. Once absorbed however , my skin felt extremely smooth. The added advantage was that the moisturiser also contains a factor 30 SPF – which saved me from having to apply a separate sunscreen- again wearing sunscreen was a must during the period I was using the Tria laser.

The ingredients:

Youth building peptide Palmitoyl Tripeptide-37 reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles; phytoestrogens like Clover Flower Extract improve elasticity, firmness and suppleness; Brazilian botanical blend of mango, banana and caja extracts promote collagen production and cell turnover for a plumper complexion.

Does it work?

I used both the serum and moisturiser religiously twice a day for 6 weeks. Certainly my skin feels plumper . They certainly helped restore the moisture to my severely dehydrated skin. Pricewise these are high end products so to justify the spend you do need to see results. I believe they delivered = and I certainly challenged them given the dehydrated nature of my skin at the start of the 6 weeks.

Intensive Age-Diffusing Serum £64

Age-Balancing Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++ £59.50

    It’s great to have some product reviews but, with the power of wishful thinking and pseudo-scientific terminology to battle with, I wonder if Fabafterfifty reviewers/testers could do what I do and just try the new product on one half of their face? I’ve done this with several of the award-winning, ‘research shows’ products for several months each – and nobody can tell the difference compared to a less expensive moisturiser on the other side.
