Review by Ceri Wheeldon
One thing I have noticed since being in my 50s, is that my skin is decidedly drier, and my normal body creams just don’t seem to have the same effect as previously.
With winter approaching and the drying effect of central heating I was even keener to find a body cream with a lasting moisturising effect.
I have found 4 that I think are really worth trying.
This works skin deep dry leg oil
Although it is marketed as a leg oil – it can in fact be used as a full body oil. The oil is absorbed quickly and gives a lovely sheen to the skin. It is blend of 9 essential oils – including rose oil, aloe vera and evening primrose oil. It made a difference to my legs the very first time I applied it.
Murad Collagen Support Body Cream
This is said to triple skins moisture levels an application – and it certainly feels as though it does. Also, the moisturising effect seemed to last longer than other creams I used. It has a light, almost ‘whipped’ consistency with a fresh tangy smell – lemongrass and bergamot.
The ingredients include a high concentration of hyaluronic acid and peptides to promote collagen production.

Sanctuary Spa 5 day Moisturising Body Oil
Quite a runny consistency- it absorbs quickly into the skin and a little goes a long way. It leaves a slight sheen to the skin once applied. With mango seed and apricot oil it has a light fruity fragrance. I have to admit that I didn’t put it to the 5 day test – but skin still felt soft 24 hours later.

Aroma Therapy Associates Rose Body Velvet
This is more like a spa experience in a jar. It is a very rich cream with a strong scent – I loved using this at night but I found the scent competed with my perfume when I applied in the morning. It has a lovely velvety feel – absorbs quickly into the skin. skin feels softer and firmer after use. It contains natural plant essences, rose, sandalwood and velvet flower oil. I saw this as my pampering treat at night time. Lovely , left my skin feeling wonderful. A treat worth adding to your Christmas list!
