There are times when dressing for the party season when relaxed glamour by cleverly combining separates does the trick. I love the versatility of separates- you can dress down a sequin skirt with a plain sweater for a pared down look and a party top with jeans for casual glamour. I’ve picked out some of my favourites.
Bardot Style Top
I am always a great fan of the Bardot style neckline. This one from Baukjen will carry you through the party season but will also look fabulous with white jeans in the summer.
Cost: £59 from Baukjen
A classic with a twist. Black skirts needn’t be boring! Festive but classy for a grown up look.
£89 from House of Fraser – reduced to £69 at time of writing
I love the neutral colour of this sequin skirt – I think it would look fabulous with the black Baukjen top – . A matching top is available but personally I think that both worn together looks a little too dated- wearing with a plain black top provides a more sophisticated look.
Cost £89 from House of Fraser
Femine and sophisticated- a lace blouse which looks fab with black cigarette trousers and heels.

Beaded Cold Shoulder Top
Cold shoulder tops are great for covering bingo wings but still showing your shoulders. Wear with jeans for a relaxed but glamorous look, or with black evening trousers for chic sophistication

Dramatic applique skirt
I love this skirt – it’s fun yet sophisticated at the same time. Wear wirh a crisp white blouse or black bardot style top. My favourite!

Add a bit of sparkle over a plain black shift dress to get the party started. The asymmetric cut helps create the illusion of a smaller waist.

Sequin and mesh top
A great way to get the ‘strapless top’ look while staying covered.
