Review by Ceri Wheeldon
Many of us are happy to invest in our skin and try out new treatments, bit are reluctant to go down the botox/filler route. So what are the options re salon based hi-tech treatments rejuvenation treatments that work?
I popped along to Time Beauty, in Hurley near Maidenhead to try out the Crystal Clear COMCIT treatment.
Aimed at rejuvenating skin by increasing collagen, firming the face and minimising lines and wrinkles.
Typically you would have a course of 6 treatments 2 weeks apart with significant improvements being visible after the 3rd 4th treatment…but i was assured that even one treatment would make a difference.
About the Crystal Clear COMCIT Treatment
COMCIT stands for Cryo Oxygen Microchannelling Collagen Induction Therapy . It offers the delivery of Cryo Oxygen while using a Microchannelling roller which creates hundreds of microscopic channels in the skin, allowing the infusion of powerful rejuvenation ingredients.
The revolutionary Cryo Probe rapidly chills the skin while the Microchannelling Roller is moved over the face to penetrate the epidermis.
The active ingredients are Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and PhyoCellTec (Argan Stem Cell extract)
The treatment itself
Walking into the treatment room there was an impressive looking machine in corner – very space age!
Step 1 Cleanse and Microdermabrasion
Step 2 A Cryo-Probe was passed over the face to chill the skin- not at all uncomfortable- just a cooling sensation.
Step 3 Microchanelling – needling and serum applied using a small gauge roller..as this was my first treatment, the needles were only 0.25 millimetres long, although as you progress through the course of treatments longer needles up to 1.5 mm are used .
The firsts session really acclimatises your skin to needling. If you have ever had dermaroller would know what to expect. With COMCIT needling and injecting the serum happen at the same time. Rachel , my therapist, went once all over the entire face and neck with the microchannelling roller , then focused on areas that needed it most, pigmentation, wrinkles…my greatest need was crows feet!
Step 4 the next step was to infuse oxygen via what looked like a rubber probe…this has a lifting and plumping effect
Step 5 the relaxing part…and rehydrating mask was applied over the entire face – including my mouth , so for once I had to be quiet! While the mask was left to work its wonders I had a relaxing arm and shoulder massage.
Step 6 once the mask was peeled off and the residue cleansed, a moisturiser was applied and my treatment was done.
The results
My skin definitely felt smoother and tighter immediately after the COMCIT treatment. I was advised not to wear make for the rest of the day, and not to use products containing essential oils for the next 24 hours, in fact as my regular cleanser and moisturiser contain both, I opted to use the Crystal Clear recommended post treatment products. I was told I would continue to see improvements to my skin over the next 10 days.
Certainly 5 days later my skin feels incredibly smooth- and firm, so much so that I was confident enough to brave the world without wearing foundation.
Based on this one treatment, if I had the time I would definitely do the full course. Personally I think it is an excellent alternative to some of the medical aesthetic treatments on offer.
Cost: Locally £85 for one session, £480 for a course of 6
