 As women, we often approach our middle years with a sense of dread and foreboding.   Many of us feel that our best years are behind us and no longer feel youthful, sexy or attractive.

It doesn’t have to be that way. As we approach middle age, we are just getting started! I am going to share 10 tips and secrets to regaining or maintaining your looks, youthful vitality, health and libido at any age.

  1. Raw food

Raw vegan food is definitely not a fad. Supplementing a healthy diet with raw food is an effective way to provide your body with the enzymes and nutrition it needs to function and look its very best.  Get creative! There are dozens of great raw recipe books that will help you create raw versions of your favourite cooked foods.

 

  1. Juicing

Without a doubt, this is my top tip for looking fabulous! Fresh juice made from vegetables and fruit is the elixir of life. Pure fresh juice contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals and enzymes to give your body an amazing boost and because it’s fibre-free, juice can enter your bloodstream within 20 minutes of consumption. You will literally be drinking from the fountain of youth! The downside is that juicing is a little time-consuming, but well worth the effort.  Try drinking about a litre of juice 2-3 and you will really see the difference!

 

  1. Rebounding

A rebounder is a mini-trampoline and rebounding is such fun way to exercise!  While jumping you activate the three natural forces of acceleration, deceleration and gravity which strengthen every muscle in the body, giving you a full body workout.  It’s ideal for people with joint problems or for those who are overweight and is 68% more effective than the equivalent time spent running.

 

  1. Weekly juice fasting

A weekly juice fast, performed over 24 hours will cleanse, rehydrate, remineralise and rebuild your body, cell by cell. Our culture does not embrace the idea of fasting, but if you really want to see some positive improvements in your appearance, try fasting for 24 hours once a week on fresh juices. It’s not easy, but the results will astound you!  Your hair, skin and nails will all benefit and puffiness caused by water retention will disappear, leaving you looking slimmer and glowing with health.

 

  1. Herbs

Herbs are a natural and effective way to treat your minor or chronic health problems.  Too many of us place the responsibility for our health in the hands of the medical profession instead of with ourselves.  Herbs are food and are therefore nourishing as well as therapeutic. Herbs can prevent common chronic health problems like colds and flu, if taken on a regular basis.

 

  1. Dry skin brushing

Dry skin brushing will help stimulate the lymphatic system and break down stubborn fat and the toxins stored within these fat cells, which often accumulates on the lower stomach, thighs, buttocks and hips. It will also leave your skin feeling soft and silky smooth.

 

 

  1. Meditation

Daily meditation calms the mind and raises our threshold for stress. I’ve been meditating for about ten years now and I am a different person than when I started.  I do not get anywhere near as stressed as I used to and I have a calmer more philosophical view of life.

 

  1. Retreat

Try going on a retreat at least every few years. It’s a great way to escape the stresses, strains and demands of modern life, work and home commitments.  A retreat will allow you to recharge your batteries, refocus on what’s important, totally destress and cleanse, nourish and revitalise your body.

 

  1. Colonics

Most of us are carrying around pounds of excess waste in our bowel.  This is often the result of poor food choices which result in poor digestion and constipation.  A series of colonics will work wonders to rid you of old impacted waste, improve your digestion and overall health cure constipation and help to flatten out your stomach and facilitate weight loss.  Alternatively, try enemas at home.  Admittedly this is not for the faint-hearted, but well worth the effort, extremely empowering and effective.

 

  1. Far infrared sauna

This is a great way to detox that literally pushes toxins from the body.  Far infrared saunas mimic the rays of the sun. You can expect to sweat out 3 times more toxins than a traditional sauna, ridding yourself of heavy metals and trans-fats from the organs.

Give it a try! Don’t worry if you can’t do all of it, just do what you can, when you can. I guarantee that you will be surprised and delighted at the changes in your appearance and the compliments that follow!
