  1. Time Bomb Christmas Collection on offer on QVC Dec 9th

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Time Bomb was one of the first skincare ranges I reviewed on Fab after Fifty – and it has continues to be a personal favourite. The Time Bomb Troubleshooter neck and jaw cream is still viewed as the one to beat by my reviewer   who tries all the neck creams – she buys this one for herself and prefers to all the others she has tried over the past few years. I have always been a fan of the Take Off Time cleanser. Both are included in their special Christmas Collection. I have mentioned previously  that a great way to try new ranges is to look out for offers or gift collections.  If you are looking for a fabulous Christmas gift,...
  2. Review: Time Bomb ABC Vitamin Solution.

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon One of the first product reviews I did for Fab after Fifty was from the Time Bomb range, and I do like to try out the new additions to the range. ABC Vitamin solution  is the latest product to be launched in the Time Bomb range. Our skin loses its ability to absorb vitamins as we age. Time Bomb ABC helps to address that. Applied at night, it delivers a mega dose of vitamins to help boost ageing skin. It is extremely light and is quickly absorbed . Skin instantly feels smoother and tighter. A little goes a long way. Once it has been absorbed you apply your regular night cream. I think this a very effective serum to use at night and compares well to more expensive products I have used, and...
  3. Review: Murad Age Reform Hydro Glow Aqua Peel

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon  I am a huge fan of Murad products – and  for me  their Invisiblur Perfecting Shield is the best primer I have found to date, so I always look forward to trying new additions to their range. The Murad Age Reform Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel is a 2 step exfoliation and intense hydration system. The treatment comes in a giant sachet  , separated into two parts. The first step is the exfoliation part of the process. You apply an over-sized pre-soaked swab that looks like a giant Q-tip all over your face. The swab contains a blend of lactic and glycolic acid and botanical extracts to gently exfoliate the skin. The second step is to apply the Moisture Infusion sheet mask  for 15 – 20 minutes. The mask feels incredibly soothing – and thankfully...
  4. Review: Lee Stafford Bigger Fatter Fuller shampoo and conditioner

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon One of the most frequent comments we receive about hair over 50 (apart from going grey) is the issue of hair being thinner. I tried some of the products from the Lee Stafford Bigger Fatter Fuller range. My hair is naturally curly but very fine, so when I blow dry is straight it tends to lack volume – and I lose the volume at the crown by having to give it a good tug to dry it straight.  I usually use 2 heated rollers at the crown to add some lift and volume once its dry. The Bigger, Fatter Fuller range is not age specific, but really concentrates on adding volume. From the first time I used the shampoo and conditioner...
  5. Product Review: John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Hi-Impact Vibrancy Oil Elixir

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon I always know if I have been using products that are good for my hair by my hairdresser’s reaction . I only go to my hairdresser every 8-10 weeks so there is plenty of time for anything new that I try to have an impact on my hair. My hair is naturally incredibly curly – and prone to frizz – especially in humid weather.  And I do still wear my hair long – with no plans to have it cut shorter just because I’m over 50!  I have been using John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Hi-Impact Vibrancy Oil Elixir since my last visit, and yesterday at my hair appointment my hairdresser commented on the condition and the shine – he thought he had never seen...
  6. Review of Teoxane Advanced Filler Derma-Restructuring  Anti-Wrinkle Cream

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Hyaluronic acid (HA) is included in many topical serums, but I was interested in trying the HA  based Teoxane Advanced Filler serum   developed by Teosyal. Teosyal  is known for its hyaluronic acid dermal fillers used by cosmetic doctors for injections  in over 80countries – so  I thought that in now offering HA  in serums to consumers , they  must be confident in the effectiveness of the product. I have been applying only in the mornings – and have concentrated the product on the areas where I have the most lines – my forehead and crows feet.   I am very  aware of these lines, but made a decision not to have botox. It is very hard for me to give an honest review of the  anti-wrinkle products...
  7. Review of Vichy Double-Usage In Shower Aftersun Oil

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon I love being outdoors – especially in the summer…and I am very lucky to be able to spend time in the South of France. The down side is the drying effect the sun, and dipping in and out of the water can have on my skin. My legs in particular are quite dry, but to be honest I don’t have the patience to lather myself in body lotion twice a day-  and I hate that ‘greasy ‘ feeling that some body lotions can leave.  I don’t have the patience to wait for lotions to absorb into the skin, and I don’t like strongly scented  products compete with my perfume.  that  I am very much a shower, dress and go type of person....
  8. Review: Boots No 7 Lift and Luminate Triple Serum

    Comment
Review by Patricia  Patricia reviews No 7 Lift and Luminate Triple Serum. Here’s what she had to say: Is there a specific problem this product is supposed to address? If so, what is it? Anti ageing reduces wrinkles,  firms skin, evens skin tone. Description of product:  A light smooth cream with  no obvious smell Price: £35 for 50ml What are the active ingredients?  Matrixyl plus, hyaluonic acid, hibiscus How is it used? How often?  Applied to the face Morning and evening How easy is it to use?  The serum is very easily absorbed into the skin  and a little goes along way Did you notice a difference? How soon did you start to see a difference?  There was a gradual difference but after a few weeks there was a noticeable difference in my...
  9. How Semi-Permanent Makeup Makes You Look Younger

    Comment
By Leading Semi-Permanent Makeup Artist, Laura Kay London   There are many reasons why women seek to have semi permanent make up. Some may look into having it to save time and money, whilst others may find it suits their lifestyle, particularly if they are more active. The most common reason however, is because as we age, we unfortunately lose the definition on our defining facial features due to loss of brightness and collagen. Semi-permanent makeup can help enhance the brow, lip and eye area. The most common procedure is microblading, which is cosmetic tattooing with a hand tool dipped in customized colour to suit your natural brow shade. It is applied...
  10. Review: Skinceuticals HA Intensifier

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Hyaluronic acid in cosmetic treatments is known to plump the skin and help it to retain moisture – after all it is the key ingredient in the filers used in non-surgical cosmetic injections. and it is increasingly being used in cosmetic products.  Hyaluronic Acid can absorb up to 1000 times its own weight in water, and as our own naturally depletes with age,  skin becomes drier, resulting in lines and sagging I am always keen to find viable options other than botox and fillers to help maintain- and even reverse  the signs of ageing and so  I was interested to see how effective a serum with a high concentration of hyraluronic acid could be. H.A.  intensifier is a corrective serum proven to improve skin plumpness and firmness and texture...
