  1. Product review: Time Bomb Throwback Thursday Overnight Peel and Reveal

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon One of my all time favourite products is –TIME BOMB Blast to the Past Dermabrasion  I have been using it weekly  for a couple of years- well now it has been updated  and is now a 2 step weekly treatment,Time Bomb Throwback Thursday Overnight Peel and Reveal Step 1 being Peel, and Step 2 Reveal. Throwback Thursday aims to reduce the look of pores ,fine lines and hyper-pigmentation. Why Thursday? Well it seems the ideal time to apply is Thursday night – so that you reveal fresher, younger looking skin for the weekend. I’m awkward – I  decided to try it out on a Sunday to have a fresh faced Monday! So how does  Throwback...
  2. Cosmetic skin needling – At Home or Clinic – anti-ageing benefits of micro needling

    Comment
Article by Anthony Kingston Many of you may be aware of skin needling. It is also known as derma rolling or micro needling. In salons you can pay up to £250 per treatment for a half hour session with a therapist. What many of you may not be aware of is how easy it is to perform this therapy at home. In this blog we explore this option and some of the advantages and disadvantages of this approach. First lets explore a myth. You may have seen this therapy done in clinics or worse on you tube. They often use very long micro needles and aggressive techniques and it looks painful or even bloody! It actually does not have to be this way. Research has shown that even when longer micro needles...
  3. The Harley Street Box from LatestinBeauty.com: Fab Introduction to Cosmeceuticals

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon I have to confess to being a bit of a lotions and potions junkie. I just can’t resist trying the latest products, not from the perspective of being desperate to get rid of wrinkles by using a magic pot of cream, but more from the way they smell and feel on the skin. We can all get carried away in the beauty halls of department stores, but there is a whole range of cosmeceutical products which are not so readily available on the high street, but which have been developed by leading skincare experts to really treat your skin. But where do you start? Individual products can be expensive, and as many of the cosmeceutical brands are less well known, not having the benefit of...
  4. Review: Crystal Clear COMCIT Facial: Intense Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Many of us are happy to invest in our skin and try out new treatments, bit are reluctant to go down the botox/filler route. So what are the options re salon based hi-tech treatments rejuvenation treatments that work? I popped along to Time Beauty, in Hurley near Maidenhead to try out the Crystal Clear COMCIT treatment. Aimed at rejuvenating skin by increasing collagen, firming the face and minimising lines and wrinkles. Typically you would have a course of 6 treatments 2 weeks apart with significant improvements being visible after the 3rd 4th treatment…but i was assured that even one treatment would make a difference. About the Crystal Clear COMCIT Treatment COMCIT  stands for Cryo Oxygen Microchannelling Collagen Induction Therapy . It offers the delivery of Cryo Oxygen while...
  5. 4 of the best body moisturisers for mature skin

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon One thing I have noticed since being in my 50s, is that my skin is decidedly drier, and my normal body creams just don’t seem to have the same effect as previously. With winter approaching and the drying effect of central heating I was even keener to find a body cream with a lasting moisturising effect. I have found 4 that I think are really worth trying. This works skin deep dry leg oil Although it is marketed as a leg oil – it can in fact be used as a full body oil. The oil is absorbed quickly and gives a lovely sheen...
  6. 10 Beauty & Grooming Tips From A 1950s Flight Attendant

    Comment
Working for an airline has all sorts of benefits, from free flights to travelling the world and meeting lots of amazing people. But one of the biggest perks is the opportunity to look glamorous and smart on a daily basis. It can be a really hard thing to maintain – just imagine having to look bright-eyed after a 14 hour flight – but it’s something that needs to be mastered. Air travel is a competitive world, with more and more people flying than ever before, thanks to flight comparison sites such as Cheapflights. Consequently, it is imperative that an airline’s fight attendants look smart and professional at all times to help them stand apart from the competition. We thought it would be fun to share ten...
  7. The Science of Skin Ageing – Origins Three Part Harmony serum and Moisturiser for 50 plus skin

    Comment
I was invited to be a spokesperson at a launch of Origins 3 Part Harmony skincare range, where we talked about the changing perceptions of women over 50 and the ‘ageless’ approach to life. You can read what I had to say about Ageless Living here. But what about the Origins skincare products themselves and the impact they have on the 50plus skin?  This is what  Jo Brunwin, head of  marketing for Origin’s UK  had to say.   50s today are truly a decade of discovery and self-awareness. Turning 50 is seen as a rite of passage. In fact, ageless is a re-definition of this life stage. However, skin is going through a new transitional period that calls for specific skincare solutions.   Overtime, skin’s barrier...
  8. Color Wow Pop and Lock Crystallite Shellac Review: Fab Product to Revive Dull Midlife Hair

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon   One of the problems with post menopausal hair is the tendency for it to get drier and lose its shine. I  have tried lots of shampoos and conditioners with ‘anti-ageing’ properties – and to be honest to date I haven’t found one that appears to make a significant difference. One product that does have a noticeable effect, however, is Color Wow’s Pop & Lock Crystalite Shellac.  Applied mid-length to the ends of the hair when wet, it seals the cuticle to trap colour and moisture. It also help to avoid prevent coloured hair from fading, and creates a fabulous shine when  the hair is dried.  It is light and not at all greasy. I hadn’t realised quite what a difference it made until a friend’s 16 year old daughter commented...
  9. Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm Review: Is this the best cleanser for mature skin?

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon   I think that Elemis Po Collagen Cleansing Balm has literally saved my skin! You might have noticed that I haven’t been posting as many product reviews lately – well there’s reason for that- I had been trying so many different lotions and potions that I really needed to give my skin a much deserved break as it was starting to get irritated by the frequent changes . Thank goodness  for this fabulous cleansing balm from Elemis. It has a waxy consistency, literally melts on contact and has an incredibly soothing effect on the skin. I have been applying and leaving it on as a treatment mask too.  At night I have been using the balm twice – once as a cleanser and rinsing off (with the...
  10. Secrets to Youth: 3 Steps to Rejuvenate your Body

    Comment
Article by Sidra Jafri   Recently, the famous singer, Tina Turner, had officially gotten married at 73. I felt happy that she was still pursuing her dreams, and living the life she felt she deserved. I personally come from a culture where life ‘ends’ for people by the time they reach 50 – their bodies start to give them trouble and they start to complain about how their memory is giving up on them. Hearing someone getting married after that age was a completely new concept for me. This led me to question the difference between some people who seemingly don’t age at all,  whilst other people struggle  to just walk across the room complaining how their back isn’t what it used to be. One thing that was very evidently different between them was that the people who remained youthful, believed that...
