Hello ladies, I just popped back in, and I’m amazed at how quiet the forum is! Surely all you ‘fab afters’ have plenty to chat about???

Has anyone tried the 5:2 diet (May have already been covered, but I’ll catch up!). Since the new year I’ve been threatening to start it, but haven’t quite plucked up the courage! Maybe tomorrow…

My friend had success with the 2 in 5 diet, I tried it but got too hungry. I use a great app called my fitness pal which is very useful, I have an ipad but I think you can use it on other computers and smart phones. Jayne x

The trouble is, of course, the more common it becomes for women of our age to resort to this sort of treatment, the more unusual it becomes to see a ‘crinkly’ face. I don’t really want to look older than my peer group – not that many of my friends have gone down that line – yet!

In reply to - Hummingbird posted an update in the group General Discussion What’s your take on the Botox question? Quite a few of my friends have it, and one told me I definitely need it! I sort of think I’ve earned my […] · View

I agree with you, Val. it’s good to see that filmmakers are waking up to the fact that the world does not revolve around the young and beautiful! I loved Quartet and the Exotic Marigold! I went to see the new Richard Gere movie, Arbitrage, yesterday. Great that once again, the lead roles were playd by older actors (Gere and Susan Sarandon).…[Read more]

Thanks, Ceri – you wouldn’t lend me your husband for a couple of hours, I don’t suppose??? I guess your tip about ‘less is more’ is the key. I’ll let you know if I decide to take the plunge!

Well, here’s my take! And yes, I do have ‘baby’ botox now and again, not as often as I probably should to maintain as I am always too busy, ironic as I am married to a Botox doctor! Make sure you go to a doctor who will offer a consultation beforehand and discuss the look you want to achieve. I think it is far better to soften he lines and look…[Read more]

Botox is a TOXIN. I would really think very carefully before injecting it for cosmetic purposes. It has its place in medicine, but usually in conjunction with other medications. I would spend the money on a good holiday or whatever would make you feel really good about yourself. To hell with the lines and wrinkles – they are part of how we evolve!

I really understand where you are coming from – but it is a form of control, honed on the insecurities of older women (and increasingly men)
I think there are other ways to feel good and look good which FUN, safe and healthy. Have a look at…[Read more]

Hi Roos, I haven’t come across Barbara K yet, but will certainly look out for her now.

In reply to - Roos posted an update in the group Book Club Last year I discovered Barabara Kingsolver. The first book by this author that I read was The Lacuna. I finished the book in 3 days, it was so good. Mixing real people […] · View

How do you motivate yourself to get fit? I always mean to start, but never seem to get round to doing anything about it!

    • Ceri Wheeldon 7 years, 4 months ago

I wish I knew the answer to that one! I keep setting off with good intentions, but am not a natural sportsperson. I did think about starting a group called ‘Fitness Buddies’ where we could motivate each other. I think part of the trick is to find something you enjoy doing and look forward to – I find it easier in the summer – once we have the…[Read more]

Hi there!!! Speaking only for myself……..one day I woke up and realized I was NEVER / EVER going to be motivated to watch what I ate nor to start exercising….The day I accepted this, I hopped in the car and went to the gym. I don’t like to do laundry or go to the grocery store either, so I treat it the same way….I just do it anyhow.…[Read more]
