  1. HydraFacial review – treatment to Rejuvenate Your Skin

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon With so many great products and treatments to try at home, if I have a salon based treatment I really want to be able to see a difference. So, off I went  to the My Beauty Doctor clinic in Marlow to try the much talked about HydraFacial, of which Karren Brady is a huge fan and ambassador. I am fairly meticulous with my skincare routine at home, but occasionally it is good to give it an extra boost. The HydraFacial is very ‘hi-tech’ and consists of 6 steps. It is very ‘machine based’ rather than hands on. The facial can be tailored for specific skin issues including acne and congested skin – I went for the anti-ageing version. My beauty therapist Pauline explained each of the steps as went along. HydraFacial Step by Step Step 1 – Lymphatic drainage. Designed to detox and...
  2. The Science of Skin Ageing – Origins Three Part Harmony serum and Moisturiser for 50 plus skin

    Comment
I was invited to be a spokesperson at a launch of Origins 3 Part Harmony skincare range, where we talked about the changing perceptions of women over 50 and the ‘ageless’ approach to life. You can read what I had to say about Ageless Living here. But what about the Origins skincare products themselves and the impact they have on the 50plus skin?  This is what  Jo Brunwin, head of  marketing for Origin’s UK  had to say.   50s today are truly a decade of discovery and self-awareness. Turning 50 is seen as a rite of passage. In fact, ageless is a re-definition of this life stage. However, skin is going through a new transitional period that calls for specific skincare solutions.   Overtime, skin’s barrier...
  3. Color Wow Pop and Lock Crystallite Shellac Review: Fab Product to Revive Dull Midlife Hair

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon   One of the problems with post menopausal hair is the tendency for it to get drier and lose its shine. I  have tried lots of shampoos and conditioners with ‘anti-ageing’ properties – and to be honest to date I haven’t found one that appears to make a significant difference. One product that does have a noticeable effect, however, is Color Wow’s Pop & Lock Crystalite Shellac.  Applied mid-length to the ends of the hair when wet, it seals the cuticle to trap colour and moisture. It also help to avoid prevent coloured hair from fading, and creates a fabulous shine when  the hair is dried.  It is light and not at all greasy. I hadn’t realised quite what a difference it made until a friend’s 16 year old daughter commented...
  4. Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm Review: Is this the best cleanser for mature skin?

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon   I think that Elemis Po Collagen Cleansing Balm has literally saved my skin! You might have noticed that I haven’t been posting as many product reviews lately – well there’s reason for that- I had been trying so many different lotions and potions that I really needed to give my skin a much deserved break as it was starting to get irritated by the frequent changes . Thank goodness  for this fabulous cleansing balm from Elemis. It has a waxy consistency, literally melts on contact and has an incredibly soothing effect on the skin. I have been applying and leaving it on as a treatment mask too.  At night I have been using the balm twice – once as a cleanser and rinsing off (with the...
  5. Is there an injection free alternative to Botox and Fillers? DEU All In One Serum explained

    Comment
Interview by Ceri Wheeldon Is there really an anti-ageing skincare that can compete with Botox and Fillers? A new serum from Italy  DEU All In One Serum is described as just that. I asked Karina Luper , of DEU to explain why this new serum is so revolutionary. The questions asked in this video  interview include: This product is describes as an alternative to botox and fillers – can it really compare? Do the results really compare ? What makes this Deu serum so different? What are the active ingredients? How do you use it? Why does it come in small vials? Some of the results have been outstanding in your before and afters – how long would they have used it for? How long before you see results? Why only 21 days –...
  6. Product Review: Dr Murad Intensive Age Diffusing Serum and Dr Murad Age-Balancing Moisture

    1
Review by Ceri Wheeldon     Can a resilient desert plant help transform ageing skin?   Well I tried the latest additions to the Dr Murad anti-ageing skincare range to find out. Both the Intensive Age-Diffusing Serum and the Age-balancing Moisture contain specialised proteins from the Resurrection Plant, found in the desert, which help reduce age-related dehydration, tightens and firms the skin, and helps lock in moisture. I was certainly putting the hydration properties to the test – I have been using the Tria Age Defying Laser which in the early stages of use dries your...

  8. Review: Caci Microlift Personal Facial Toning System

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Having previously had a course of in-salon CACI treatments with good results I was looking forward to trying the relatively new home use handheld CACI Microlift unit. The CACI Microlift has a patented muscle gripping action which emits tiny electrical impulses which help to tone facial muscles. There is a choice of two treatment options with 3 intensity settings in each. To start the treatment you place serum filled ‘buds’ into the four probes. The Wrinkles Programme which is split into 2 sections – the first half of the wrinkles programme is spent ‘gripping’ the muscles between the two sets of probes, and the ‘release’ programme which aims to relax and stretch the muscles – this I found less easy to master in my first...
  9. Product Review Rodial Glamtox Neck Mask for anti-ageing skincare

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Necks can be one of the first areas to show the signs of ageing. I recently met a plastic surgeon who mentioned that he was surprised at how many women spent a fortune on face creams yet neglected their necks. Perhaps these Glamtox neck masks are the answer for mature skins!   You peel the mask off its plastic backing and apply to the neck. It is very soothing and hydrating. Leaving on foe 20 to 30 minutes you peel off and gently massage the residue into the skin – although in my case my skin had quite literally absorbed all of the product. You can feel a tightening effect as soon as it is applied. What are the active ingredients? Active ingredients include amino acids and wheat protein. Does it...
  10. Product Review Rodial Glamoxy Snake Mask for anti-ageing skincare

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon   The Rodial Glamoxy Snake Mask promises to ‘freeze and smooth’. But does it work?   It’s a little odd applying a jet black face mask , but as soon as you apply it to the face you can feel its tightening effect on the skin. The gel like consistency makes it a little fiddly to apply evenly and it is recommended that you leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Once the 15 minutes is up you peel it off. So far I have not mastered the art of peeling it off in one go! The mask has a fast acting peptide which has a freeze like effect on face. The liquorice and amino acids help to brighten the skin. The results After just one application...
