  1. Facelift for facial rejuvenation

    Comment
Youth and facial appearance can be amongst the most important things for many women in the world. Unfortunately, as we age, the skin elasticity decreases, and wrinkles appear on the face. Most women try to hold them at bay by using cosmetics and beauty treatments. However, this usually does not have a lasting effect. In order to make your face younger effectively and quickly, increasingly women  undergo a facelift. One of the best countries for this procedure in Turkey. The facelift cost in Turkey is one of the lowest in the world, and the quality of procedures is at a very high level. With the help of medical tourism, you can easily undergo the ...
  2. Review of Nailpad : Great for home manicures

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon During lockdown visits to nailbars for regular manicures came to an abrupt stop – although I have to confess to never having been to one- I have always been quite low maintenance and managed my nails at home. However, I do know how frustrating it can be when doing your own nails at home to balance the nail varnish between your knees, or dip the brush cautiously into the bottle to avoid getting excess varnish on furniture or clothes. I am a fan of beauty gadgets – and the Nailpad is such a simple idea you wonder why it hasn’t been thought of before! ...
  3. Review of Bronnley Hand Lotion and Soaps

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon With constant handwashing (whilst singing Happy Birthday twice)  becoming the new norm as we move through the Covid pandemic, how can we best take care of our hands.  We tend to focus on moisturising our faces – but hands can often be neglected- with the increase in handwashing our hands need more support than ever. How often do you hear it said that neglected hands can give away a woman’s age – not that we shouldn’t proud of the age we are of course! Bronnley hand soaps were a staple in our house when I was growing up – a firm favourite with my Mum. The brand was established 130 years ago and has certainly stood the test of...
  4. Some of my favourite skincare beauty gadgets for women over 50

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon As I write this during lockdown, I know many women are missing not having the opportunity to have their regular facials. As it may be some time before we are able to have any ‘hands on’ therapies while we wait for restrictions to be lifted, I thought I would share with you some of my favourite home beauty gadgets . I have reviewed many over the years, but these are the ones that I am currently using – and seem to be the ones I keep coming back to – and give as gifts to friends!   Cleansing Gadgets Sonic silicone cleanser ...

  6. Review of Dermaworks Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol Serums

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon I am always happy to highlight new British Brands, and am also always looking for quality skincare products that work. I was invited to try Dermaworks skincare products, notably three products in their range: Vitamin C Day Serum Hyaluronic Acid Serum Retinol Night Serum Dermaworks says that their products are: Never tested on animals Vegan Free from sulphates Free from parabens I started my trial of the range during lockdown, when, to be honest, my skin was looking tired and dehydrated – a bit like the rest of in these stressful times!! I was pleasantly surprised. Vitamin C Serum The Vitamin C serum combines vitamin C with vitamin B3 and hyaluronic acid.  Vitamin C tackles free radicals and helps to tackle age spots and pigmentation. I have a darker area on...
  7. Review of Cel MDs new haircare range formulated to promote thicker hair

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon When we are younger our hair is often viewed as our ‘crowning glory’. As we age, the texture changes – and thinning hair is an issue for many women over 50. A new haircare range by Cell MD looks to address this. I have tried the shampoo, conditioner and hair mask. Here are my thoughts on all three of these products in the range. I have been using in place of my usual shampoo and conditioner for just over two weeks. I noticed a difference the first time I used it. Cel MD Microsystem Shampoo The shampoo has a thick consistency. It does not lather as much as my usual shampoo and does not have a distinctive smell. Which from my point of view is a good thing as I don’t like using overly perfumed products. A little goes a long way Cel MD Microsystem Conditioner Where this differs...
  8. Review of Color Wow Dream Coat

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon I have been wanting to try Color Wow Dream Coat for a while. It is described as a ‘Supernatural Spray’ that ‘Magically transforms texture amazing humidity-proofing powers’. I have naturally curly hair, which only has to be exposed to humidity for seconds when it takes on a life of its own. It is totally unmanageable. In the winter months I rarely go outdoors without a hat – in fact I think friends recognise my hats before they recognise me!! Not a great solution to minimise the impact of humidity in spring and summer. Color Wow Dreamcoat is a humidity sealant. Applied to towel dried after hair shampooing and conditioning, it is heat activated when you blow dry. On the instructions...
  9. New Filler Treatment for Younger Looking Hands

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon Ageing hands is often a topic  that is highlighted by Fab after Fifty readers  – and the beauty/aesthetic treatment options available. I was recently invited to a press evening by Cosmesurge in Harley Street to discuss the latest ‘tweakments’.  The cosmetic industry recognises that we would rather ‘tweak’ our appearance rather than do anything drastic! One of the points stressed was that we should take as much care with our daily skincare routine over our necks and hands as we do our faces – just use the same products. One of the new treatments demonstrated at the event was an option to rejuvenate hands. I have seen other treatments previously which plump up the overall skin, but this one...
  10. Review of Nivea Q10 Power 60+ skincare range for 60plus skin

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon The needs of our skin change as we age. Each decade brings different skincare  issues. The new Nivea Q10 Power 60+ range has been formulated to address the specific needs of our skin once we’re in our 60s. At this stage common issues tend to be lack of elasticity ( caused by collage loss), drier skin, age spots, sagging and wrinkles. Goodness – sounds dreadful when you see it listed like that but it doesn’t have to look that dramatic – changes are gradual!!   I have tried 3 products on the Q10 Power range, the Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream (£10.99), the Night Cream (£10.99)  and the Multi-action Pampering Oil (£19.99) All three products contain Q10 which is identical to the Q10 found naturally in our own skin...
