  1. Time Bomb Mass Appeal Hair Thickening Supplement Review

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon Thinning hair can be a problem for many once we reach our 50s, but I have found that many of the hair thickening products on the market have a tendency to either dry the hair out,  or weight the hair down. I am a long time fan of the Time Bomb haircare range, particularly the shampoo,  and loved this new product in their range. My hair is fine, and very curly- add our fabulous heatwave this summer into the mix, and I was fully expecting to be wandering round looking like some mad aunt let loose from the attic. Thank goodness this product worked for me. The product’s official description: ‘Instantly adds thickness, body and volume. Mass Appeal Hair Thickening Supplement plumps up each hair strand, adding fullness and...
  2. Imedeen Prime Renewal review: Part 1

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon We are so used to buying lotions and potions to fight the signs of ageing, but applying products to nourish the surface of the skin, whilst important,  can only do so much . We shouldn’t ignore nourishing our skin from the inside out, supporting the deeper building blocks of our skin. In an ideal world, our daily diet would deliver all the nutrients our skin needs to support, and delay the signs of ageing. Due to an underlying health condition, I tend to follow a fairly healthy anti-inflammatory diet ( I eat a lot of salmon) but I recognise that this is no longer sufficient to really target the deeper layers of my skin. This is why I am trying Imedeen Prime Renewal. Its Marine...
  3. Sensitive skin – natural ways to help.

    Comment
By Gemma Hurditch for CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine). Sensitive skin can come in a number of guises. Redness and irritation, hives or rashes, sensitivity to sun, or cold, or wind, skin itching and eruptions. Whatever the issue, there are a few key things to try which will support skin health and integrity. Ditch the products! Less is more when it comes to dealing with sensitive skin. Lots of otherwise wonderful ingredients such as fragrant essential oils, pore cleansing acids, and skin smoothing butters can all contribute to overload to sensitive skin. Keep skin care basic and once you have peeled back the number of products you use, introduce new products slowly and with caution. A good quality microfibre cloth and warm (never hot) water is...
  4. Natural ways to boost radiance for mature skin

    Comment
By Gemma Hurditch for CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine). Hydration inside and out is very important for our skin. Aim for 2 litres of water per day – try caffeine-free, skin-loving herbal teas such as nettle, rooibos and rosehips. Red clover tea is also lovely for mature skin, it contains phytoestrogens so can be supportive of those going through menopause and beyond. Red clover tea needs to be steeped in hot water for about 30 minutes to extract full flavour, so use a teapot with a tea cosy and 2 teaspoons of the herb per cup for best results. If unwanted facial hair is a concern, spearmint and green tea can be a useful addition for supporting hormone balance. Reduce alcohol intake, particularly if redness or rosacea is...
  5. New No 7 Laboratories Line Correcting Serum- could it be an alternative to botox?

    2
Article by Ceri Wheeldon Could this serum be a viable alternative to Botox? No7 is launching this new clinically targeted booster serum this week. It is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 5 years, and in consumer studies women said that it reduced their deepest, most stubborn lines and wrinkles.   It is designed to be applied directly to the lines and wrinkles where you want to see results. The key ingredient is Matrixyl 3000 Plus….and this serum contains a much higher concentration than other products – 7 times as much-  to deliver maximum results in helping skin regain elasticity and visibly transform wrinkles. In their consumer trials results were seen in just 2 weeks. In week one there was a visible reduction in the appearance of...
  6. 10 Mistakes to Avoid when Applying Fake Tan

    Comment
Normally it would be that time of year when we start to pack our winter clothes away and start dressing for spring – and think about airing our legs – obscuring the pasty look with fake tan. It might be a bit too chilly still, but I’m still sharing these tips from Marissa Carter, Founder of Cocoa Brown, shares the common tanning mistakes people make and how best to avoid them and achieve a gorgeous glow with a flawless finish this summer: 10 tips for a streak free tan Applying a tan which is too dark for your skin: Embrace your natural complexion by wearing a tan to suit your skin tone. The Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter 1 HOUR TAN MOUSSE comes in three shades to suit all,...
  7. Beauty on a budget: Time Bomb Supersize Collection on QVC with 80% discount.

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon   I am always looking at ways to look fabulous over 50 on a budget, whether its looking for 2 for 1 deals, multi-buys etc. So when one of my favourite brands, Time Bomb,  is offering a special deal on QVC I like to let you know. We have reviewed many of the skincare products in the Time Bomb range in the past -and interviewed brand founder Gail Ferderici, who is passionate about delivering products that make a difference.  One of our reviewers insists that the Time Bomb Flashback night cream is the one to beat, so it’s good to see the supersize version included in their latest QVC  ‘Today’s Special Value’  offer  on 30th March, Time Bomb are selling their ‘Supersize Collection’ at...
  8. Review of Strivectin Advanced Retinol Intensive Night Moisturiser

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon I am always looking for the best skincare to support and enhance mature skin. I may not post lots of reviews, but that is because I really like to use individual products long enough to see if they do in fact make a difference before I share my thoughts.  I am a true believer in ageing gracefully, but in giving nature a little helping hand 🙂 My latest ‘find is Strivectin Advanced Retinol Intensive Night Moisturiser  which supports the essential building blocks of  the appearance of healthy skin. They say: Delivering the anti-ageing benefits of Retinol without irritation, the night-time moisturiser expertly hydrates skin whilst visibly improving signs of ageing, including fine lines and wrinkles. Its dose of Retinol helps refine and restore skin...
  9. L’Oreal Age Perfect Make-Up Review

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon I am so pleased to see big brands finally recognising our needs, as women over 50 and our spending power) and tailor products to reflect this stage of our lives. I was delighted to be asked to review L’Oreal’s Age Perfect makeup range – developed with the needs of mature skin in mind –  products that don’t just improve how we look, but also improve the quality of our skin , lips and lashes over time. With Julianne Moore as the face of the range – it’s good to see that they are embracing and celebrating  women over 50. Normally when I am sent products to review by companies I have a few samples from the range pop through the letterbox in a jiffy...
  10. Time Bomb Christmas Collection on offer on QVC Dec 9th

    Comment
Review by Ceri Wheeldon Time Bomb was one of the first skincare ranges I reviewed on Fab after Fifty – and it has continues to be a personal favourite. The Time Bomb Troubleshooter neck and jaw cream is still viewed as the one to beat by my reviewer   who tries all the neck creams – she buys this one for herself and prefers to all the others she has tried over the past few years. I have always been a fan of the Take Off Time cleanser. Both are included in their special Christmas Collection. I have mentioned previously  that a great way to try new ranges is to look out for offers or gift collections.  If you are looking for a fabulous Christmas gift,...
