  1. Dresses with Sleeves for Autumn/Winter Dress 2

    Comment
Style pic by Ceri Wheeldon A fabulous way to wear denim, and a great transition piece for autumn.  For Day 2 of the Dresses with sleeves autumn 16  challenge I have selected this denim dress with sleeves.  I love the top to bottom zip for a modern twist and the tie belt. Great for a layering when when the weather gets cooler – especially as the roll neck sweater is bang on trend this season. I’m a great believer in wearing denim at any age – but a dress can add that edge to being stylish in denim over 50. At the time of writing...
  2. Dresses with sleeves for Autumn/Winter: Dress 1

    Comment
Style pick by Ceri Wheeldon I know I previously undertook  a Dresses with Sleeves Challenge – where I tried to find a Dress with Sleeves a day for 50 days. It was incredibly popular and I have received lots of requests to do this again. I know I made a half hearted attempt a while ago to do it again, but I had so much going on in my life that I couldn’t quite get excited about clothes….but as I am now moving onwards and upwards again I thought it would be a good time to once again make a bid for the Dresses with Sleeves Challenge. I hope you like my choices! Also I will be adding some non ‘dress’ style picks and some video styling tips and...

Article by Ceri Wheeldon I have had lots of requests for some style pics for holiday dressing over 50… so I have put together a selection …all similar to items  I pack in my own case for summer holidays.   For me white or off white jeans and trousers are a wardrobe staple on summer holidays – I usualy take both skinny and flared. White trousers £45 from House of Fraser white jeans £41.30 Biba from House of Fraser I find kimonos are great...
  4. Dresses with sleeves: Perfect for Henley and Summer Occasions

    1
Article by Ceri Wheeldon It’s that time of year when dressing for summer events has us reaching into our wardrobe for that elegant, summery feel good dress, that is easy to wear- and for many of us- preferably with sleeves! I have a visit planned for Henley Regatta this year , which means I need to wear dress which sits below the knee – and although I have a wardrobe full of dresses – most of my summer dresses sit on or above the knee. In case we are lucky and have a glorious English summer, I am also aware that although I want to wear a dress with sleeves, I also don’t want to expire in the heat. ...
  5. Dresses with sleeves 2016 – electrify in blue

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon Cobalt blue is one of my favourite colours – and it seems to suit most skin tones. This dress is really versatile – one of those you can dress up for evening  or play down for daytime. With a flattering v-neck and ruching to help hide lumps and bumps, this dress ticks all the boxes . It also has an asymmetric hem to give it a modern twist.   The fact that it is jersey  makes it great for packing for city breaks and also very comfortable.  Fab dress to transition from day to evening. Wear with...

    pink ruffle dress with sleeves

Style should be fun over 50! Ruffles are a key trend this season – and these ruffles add a touch of glamour and femininity placed at the waist and cuffs.  This is dress is elegant yet fun at the same time.  Only simple accessories are needed – as this dress really makes a statement in its own right. A pair of nude heels are all that’s needed. I  love it!

  7. Dresses with Sleeves 2016 : Day One : chic and simple monochrome

    Comment
Post by Ceri Wheeldon Back by popular demand! I have received so many requests to relaunch this series, so here is the first Dress with Sleeves for 2016 – not sure I’ll get to 50 dresses this time around – but will do my best!   I have chosen this simple, monochrome shift dress to start this series – I think the lace detail at the hem and sleeves give the dress a more contemporary look. Great for dressing up- or down. The sleeve length is just below the elbow – so covers bingo wings while keeping the look ‘fresh’.   Wear with flat pumps for relaxed daytime look or heels for heels for a more formal occasion. I love pointed toe flats – I think they are so much more...
  8. Does the colour we wear affect our mood?

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon Does the colour we wear affect our mood?  According to a recent study of 2000 Brits it suggests it does! Half of Brits say the colours they wear directly affect their moods Four in ten say their mood can change if they put on a different colour Black is the colour of choice for those feeling both stressed and angry Nearly a fifth of Brits wear only black or neutral tones, with 40 per cent of our wardrobes taken up with black clothes The majority of Brits (43 per cent) say that yellow is the colour to wear when feeling happy   According to respondents, a green outfit is a sign of intelligence, blue shows you’re reliable, white suggests you’re traditional, yellow says you’re happy and good humoured, while pink suggests immaturity and should...
  9. Where can I find elegant evening dresses for women over 50?

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon Where can I find elegant evening dresses for women over 50? This is a question I am often asked, especially now that the trend  in stores and on the red carpet seems to be for lower and lower  necklines and seemingly up to the waist ‘thigh’ splits. I have found several from an online brand called Gorgeous Couture that fit the bill. They are stylish, elegant- and even those without sleeves are elegant rather than leaving you over exposed.  All four styles come in a variety of colours. I hope you like my choices! This elegant full length black dress (available in several colours...
  10. Dresses with sleeves – fabulous dress for work for a professional look over 50.

    Comment
Article by Ceri Wheeldon To look, professional, chic and ‘current’  in the workplace,  a shift dress, with sleeves is a great choice. Look for fabrics with some ‘give’ that wont crease throughout the day. I made the mistake early in my career of buying some fabulous linen skirts and dresses which great when I left the house in the morning, but left me looking like a crumpled paper bag by lunchtime! I think the key to looking professional is in part to dress ‘agelessly’ and choosing the right shift dress can really help acheive this. I love this black pinstripe dress from Baukjen –  in a thick stretch jersey it looks chic while being comfortable at the same time. Add a statement necklace to take you from day to evening. Ageless...
