I’m a big fan of marine based products, so was keen to try their new Silicium range. The Slicium range in particular is targeted at skin showing loss of firmness and wrinkles. Having had Thalgo facials in France I was looking forward to seeing what effect the products for home use would have on my skin.
I tried 2 products in the range – the Silicium Cream and the Silicium concentrate.
The Silicium Concentrate is an intensive serum designed to be used as a one month course (to be repeated a couple of times a year) while the Silcium Cream is for daily use, morning and evening.
The Silicium Cream is rich and velvety, but not too heavy and is easily absorbed . I liked the fact that it can be used morning and night, so reducing the need for separate day and night creams.
After a few days of using both the concentrate and the cream together, my skin definitely felt more velvety to the touch.
I don’t think I fully appreciated quite how good an effect it was having on my skin until I stopped using it for a week ( I was away and just took some travel and sample sixed sized products with me in my hand luggage). I soon noticed the difference, and felt my skin was looking noticeably duller.
I have finished my month using the concentrate so am now only using the Silicium Cream. It is rich, and a little goes a long way. It’s not cheap, but lasts well, and in my opinion the results justify the price, especially if you don’t have regular facials
What are the active ingredients in Thalgo Silicium?
According to the product info the silicium complex strengthens the connective tissues in the skin as it enhances the production of hyaluronic acid- therefore improving the skin’s elascticity.
I would definitely recommend the Thalgo Silcium cream and concentrate products. There is a third product in the range (Silicium Extracts) which is said to have a lifting effect on the facial contours – I haven’t tried this, but would love to have feedback from anyone who has.
Thalgo Silicium Cream: £60 50ml
Thalgo Silicium Concentrate £67.50 30ml
The Thalgo Silicium range is available from www.thalgo.com
Note: I have also used the Clarisonic cleanser with this – meaning my skin absorbs even more of the product, and also the Sarah Chapman massager- a plastic massage roller which seems to help firm facial contours (and feels good!)
